My Food/Fitness Philosophy

I’ve been a passionate runner all of my life, and I’ve been inspired by my mother to keep pushing to get involved in more serious competitions and longer distance races. I run for run for health, stress relief, personal enjoyment, and of course vanity- I like to keep my booty in shape, too!

As a runner and all-around fitness-buff (yea, that makes me sound way more intense than I am, ha!), I view food as fuel- but don’t get me wrong, I love to eat! I’m passionate about nutrition, wellness, and the balance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle. I concentrate on whole foods and natural ingredients, but I also can’t skirt around some of my food vices. I have been known to use splenda and/or stevia, perhaps too often, but I am really working on cutting artificial sweeteners out of my diet completely- in due time!

I LUUUURVE food~ in the form of fresh produce, and I could probably live off of fruits, veggies, and greek yogurt…but that probably wouldn’t get me too far with my running. I work to create a balanced diet that fits my personal needs and my active lifestyle. Because I am active, I prefer to actively fuel (like clockwork, ha!)- which usually evens out to eating every 3-ish hours, totally to 5 or 6 mini meals, daily.

I run daily, and I prefer to run outside- soaking up my vitamin D, working on my tan, and getting some fresh are are all benefits of outdoor workouts. I have also become extremely interested in weight training, and my interest has paid off- as I am seeing my running improve as I continue to weight train 3-5x a week.

Food blogs and fitness sites have also contributed to my passion for nutrition, health, and wellness- all balancing out with fitness and weight training. I’m jumping in to contribute to the booming blogo-sphere, and I’m all about tracking my daily eats and miles to understand my progress, downfalls, goals, and achievements.

Wahooo, I’m off and running – come join me:)
